FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners, is investigating reports of elevated blood lead levels in individuals with reported exposure to Apple Cinnamon Fruit Puree pouches manufactured in Ecuador and sold under WanaBana, Weis, and Schnucks brands.  

As of November 16, 2023, there have been 34 reports of illness potentially linked to recalled

Long term exposure exposure to lead can cause a variety of problems in children, including learning disabilities and brain damage. 

The FDA has received more reports of illnesses in children related to applesauce products and two more companies have issued recalls of their products because of high levels of lead.

The implicated products are all

Tyson Foods, Inc. a Berryville, Ark., establishment, is recalling approximately 29,819 pounds of fully cooked, breaded, shaped chicken patty product that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal pieces, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
