According to Holland press – Six days after it was closed due to a norovirus outbreak, a Holland eatery reopens today. Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant had voluntarily stopped operations and pulled its booth out of the Ottawa County Fair last Saturday when the first reports of at least 200 cases of diners becoming ill had surfaced. Management conducted a thorough cleaning of the 17th Street facility, while county health officials say that pinpointing the exact cause of the outbreak may be impossible. All of the afflicted, including one who was hospitalized for dehydration, have fully recovered.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that noroviruses cause nearly 21 million cases of acute gastroenteritis annually, making noroviruses the leading cause of gastroenteritis in adults in the United States.
