Ground beef from the Maine-based grocery chain called Hannafords is the source of a multi-state antibiotic resistant Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 14. The USDA’s press release noted that the illnesses occurred amongst residents of New Hampshire, Maine, New York, and Vermont. Half of the 14 victims were hospitalized, and the Salmonella ground beef was purchased between Oct. 12 and Nov. 20.
Phyllis Entis just revealed a little more information than the USDA did. Important stuff for residents of the affected states. Three of the illnesses occurred in New Hampshire; 4 in Maine, 4 in New York, and 1 in Vermont. Where the other 2 illnesses occurred is not yet know, at least publicly. Also, 3 of the 4 New York State victims were among the 7 who were hospitalized.
