Three kindergartners from the same classroom at Stanford Elementary are part of an E. coli investigation. Officials with Lincoln County Schools are working with health department and regional epidemiologist.
Two of the three children have been treated at UK Hospital. One is confirmed to have E. coli, and the other, given the timing and type of their symptoms are currently suspected to have been infected by E. coli. No word yet whether any of the children have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS.
According to officials, the cafeteria at Stanford Elementary was recently inspected and had a high rating. The health department inspected the cafeteria again today, but there is still no known cause.
