groundbeef.jpgBefore the summer started, at least two companies had recalled ground beef products due to E. coli O157:H7 contamination in 2011.  One was a 3,170 pound ground beef product recall by American Food Services, from Pico Rivera, California, and another was Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, which recalled approximately 14,158 pounds of ground beef products back in March.  Then:

And of course, Mcnees Meat and Wholesale LLC has caused an outbreak in Michigan that has sickened at least 9 Michigan residents with E. coli O157:NM.  The Mcnees Meat outbreak prompted a recall totaling around 2,500 pounds

Total for the year 2011:  310,248 pounds of ground beef products (note: ground products only; trim, and other cuts not included in this summary).
