Michigan public health officials have identified at least 2 people (possibly from Wayne County) likely infected by Listeria after consuming contaminated cheese produced by Green Cedar Dairy in Dearborn. The dairy, after being implicated in the outbreak, has recalled packages of cheese saying All Natural Ackawi Cheese and All Natural Chives Cheese with a sell by date up to July 1, 2012.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture, providing laboratory support for the Department of Health’s epidemiological investigation, has indicated that at least one sample of “All Natural Chives Cheese” has tested positive for Listeria.
Green Cedar Dairy products are distributed in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
