Enquirer staff writer Jane Prendergast reports that health department investigators are still trying to figure out what made as many as 300 people sick after eating at downtown Cincinnati’s Hilton Netherland Plaza Hotel.
Of about 1,500 people who ate at the hotel between Nov. 29 and Dec.
3, an estimated 200 to 300 were hit with vomiting, diarrhea and other stomach problems, Dr. Larry Holditch, medical director for the Cincinnati Health Department, said today.

Health officials originally suspected 50 to 100 people were sickened.
Holditch has praised the hotel’s management for responding quickly to the problem, cleaning its food preparation areas thoroughly, throwing away any leftover food and ordering all food workers who got sick to stay home from work until they were symptom-free for three days.
City sanitarians went to the hotel this past weekend to check and found no problems.
