The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Fromagerie La Vache à Maillotte are warning the public not to consume the Rose brand Semi Hard Ripened Cheese because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected bears the lot # 011 and is sold in 2 kg and 200 g units. In addition, cheese may have been cut and sold at retail/deli counters in random weight packages starting on June 1, 2011 up to and including June 22, 2011. Accordingly, the brand name and lot code information of the original cheese may not appear on the individual cut pieces of the cheese. The product has been distributed only in Abitibi-Temiscamingue, Québec.

Although there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the cheese, consumers are urged to return the product to the place of purchase.
