Ippolito Fruit and Produce Ltd. is recalling an unknown volume of bagged spinach because of possible salmonella contamination.
Brands included in the recall are Frisco’s, Queen Victoria and Metro, according to a recall notice on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website. The consumer packages have been distributed in Ontario and Quebec and may also have been distributed to other provinces.
Ippolito’s director of operations Bill Kennedy said Sept. 24 that the Burlington, Ontario, company did not have any details to release other than those in the recall notice on the government website.
No product in the U.S. is involved in the recall.
The recall notice does not include any information about how or where the possible salmonella contamination was discovered. Canadian officials did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
The recalled bagged spinach was distributed in four different packages. They have lot codes of 2 D66258.
